Marc Le Mené est né en 1957 à Lorient.
Il découvre la photographie à l’âge de 16 ans. Il devient l’année suivante reporter pour le journal Ouest France et pour l’armée française lors de son service militaire.Il arrive à Paris à l’age de 22 ans et travaille alors dans une agence de photos pour la mode et la publicité.
Au début des années 80, il décide de ne vivre que du fruit de son travail artistique, il s’essaie à la peinture jusqu’en 1990 sans réelle passion et sans s’y « être vraiment intéressé » comme il le dit lui-même.
En 1985, il gagne le prix du photographe du Centre National de la Photographie et en 1989 il est pensionnaire de la Villa Medicis et gagne le Prix de Rome.
En 1995, il remporte le Prix Roger Pic de la Société Civile des Auteurs Multimédia (SCAM). Son travail, s’organisant par série, est à la fois poétique et insolite empruntant autant au cinéma qu’aux peintures surréalistes.
Marc Lemené was born in 1957 in Lorient.
He discovers photography at the age of 16. The next year he becomes reporter for the newspaper Ouest France and for the French Army at the time of his military service.
He arrives in Paris at the age of 22, where he works in an agency of photography for the fashion and advertising world.
At the beginning of the 80’, he decides to live only with the gains of his artistic work. He tries painting till 1990, without real passion and without “being really interested”, as he says.
In 1985 he wins the prize of the “Centre National de la photographie” and in 1989 he is boarder at “Villa Medicis” and wins the Prize of Rome.
In 1995, he wins the Prix Roger Pic de la Société Civile des Auteurs Multimédia (SCAM). His work, organized in series, is at the time poetical and unusual, referring to the cinema and at the surrealistic painting.
